The publication covers fundamentals of the problems linked with the theory of designing metal alloys according to Borys Gulaev. It briefly discusses all the problems associated with optimal selection of the alloys’ components, making use of the available physico – chemical data in order to analyse them later from the aspect of synergistic activities. The proposed criteria of the alloy components selection, taking into account the required final material parameters, including its application already at the designing level, allow to reliably select appropriate elements, suitable for obtaining material meeting given requirements. The data presented gives the Reader a chance to get acquainted with the characteristics of the selected physico – chemical properties’ changes, which are the fundamental parameter being taken into account when designing new materials.
