Meeting of the International CITA Committee
On June 12-14, at the headquarters of the Motor Transport Institute, another meeting of experts from the International Headlight Testing Working Group, CITA - International Committee for Technical Testing of Vehicles, was organized.
The chairman of the working group is a representative of Poland - Tomasz Targosiński, PhD, Eng., an MTI researcher.
The aim of the group's work is to develop European recommendations for the testing car headlights and devices for these tests as part of the periodic vehicle technical inspection at the vehicle inspection station.
Light testing is an element of periodic inspection that is important for safety. As the practice shows (including tests carried out at MTI), the lighting of vehicles leaves much to be desired. One of the key elements affecting the quality of lighting are the specific requirements for periodic testing of lights and devices used for this purpose. Currently, they are very simplified, not very precise and largely organoleptic. During the consecutive meetings, the Group analyzes sources of problems and develops recommendations aimed at noticeably improving the situation.
The subject of the meeting was to prepare the assumptions of the second stage of works, i.e. to adapting the requirements to the tested lighting properties and methodology of testing using new technologies.
